Layered Living

Living Room Reveal: Finishing Touches for a Renovation Almost Complete

Designing during the final stretch of a renovation is where the magic really happens. The bones are built, the big pieces are in place, and the space is ready to be styled with warmth, personality, and charm. For this living room, my client had already selected a few foundational pieces—like the neutral sofa and soft window treatments—and brought me in to help bring the rest of the room to life.

The goal? To layer in character, cozy texture, and timeless contrast that would make this house finally feel like home.

I started by building around the sofa, adding rich textiles and earthy tones for depth. A curated mix of throw pillows instantly made the seating feel more inviting. We pulled in a pair of swivel chairs in a moody chocolate tone—perfect for balancing out the light palette and cozying up around the fireplace.

The wood coffee table adds organic warmth and anchors the center of the room with both function and style. A simple floral arrangement, stacked design books, and brass candlesticks complete the look without overwhelming it.

Above the fireplace, a framed TV brings the perfect blend of entertainment and art. To finish things off, I added small details that make a big impact: a pair of nesting black accent tables with a sculptural lamp, a clay planter with faux olive branches, and a statement woven chandelier that adds texture and softness to the overhead space.

Some pieces were already in place, but with a few thoughtful additions and intentional layering, this room now feels finished, elevated, and ready to be lived in.
